Assistant Director, Communication Strategy and Planning (Deskhead)

Job Description

  • The role focuses on developing communication strategies for internal business units, defining comms narrative, and building message house that integrates multiple and at times competing  priorities.
  • Develop communication strategies that clearly articulate objectives, audiences, angles, and sequencing.
  • Define overarching narratives and strategic “angles” that position organisational priorities effectively.
  • Build and maintain message houses that integrate key areas of focus, sensitivities, and desired outcomes.
  • Ensure consistency of messages across initiatives while allowing flexibility for different audiences.
  • Act as a strategic sounding board during planning, policy development, or change initiatives.


Job Requirements

  • Degree in Communications, Social Sciences or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs and national scale campaign and at least 4 years management experience.
  • Proven experience working across government agencies and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Able to multi-task and demonstrate strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable managing change and ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with strategic judgement and systems thinking
