National Health Innovation Centre Singapore

 

The National Health Innovation Centre Singapore (NHIC) is a nationally-appointed Programme Office that works with Public Health Institutions and Clusters across Singapore in innovation, development, implementation and commercialisation of new technologies in healthcare. We fund the translation and development of medical innovations from Singapore’s clinical sector, and provide strategic guidance and connection to industry partners, accelerating the pathway to impact in healthcare. NHIC programmes catalyse the translation of clinical innovations towards commercially viable products that benefit patients and healthcare. Established since 2014, we have supported many projects and companies in the development and implementation of innovative medical technologies and services, improving the standard of healthcare in Singapore and beyond. NHIC is part of the Consortium for Clinical Research and Innovation Singapore (CRIS).

 

What you will be working on

 

We are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as Assistant Manager/ Manager, Medtech, Capability Development and Partnerships.

 

Your key role would be to facilitate the successful translation of medical device innovations into health and commercial outcomes. You would be involved in the innovation and development of medical devices, diagnostics and digital technologies, capability development and partnerships at NHIC. This includes managing schemes, projects, processes and talent at the Public Healthcare Clusters (PHCs), with the aim of bringing these towards clinical and commercial outcomes. In the process, you will be expected to manage partnerships with government, private sector and international partners. You will also be involved in supporting administrative and communications functions along with representing NHIC at industry conferences, workshops and networking events.

 

On a day-to-day basis, you will provide project management support and guidance to project teams supported by NHIC’s innovation, development and adoption schemes. You will assist in setting up a common Project Management Platform for easy access to projects and partners. You will support and manage assigned MedTech projects, evaluation and deliverables.  As part of the NHIC team, you will organise and conduct project reviews and evaluation panel meetings to review and evaluate project proposals and invention disclosures. You will also work closely with PHC innovation offices to guide them on intellectual property (IP) strategy, market opportunities and project selection.  You will also be expected to work with various government agencies, venture partners, private sector and international partners, to bring these projects closer to clinic and market.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Degree in Bioengineering, Engineering, Computer Engineering with focus in Healthcare, Biomedical Science or equivalent. Those with Masters or PhDs would have an advantage.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a field related to tech transfer, development, commercialisation and/or implementation of medical technologies from public to private sector. Exposure to development and/or implementation of medical devices such as diagnostics, digital tech, AI into primary and tertiary care would be advantageous.
  • Some exposure to managing partnerships with private sector preferred. Knowledge of medical device quality management and regulatory requirements a plus. Experience in programme, project and/or grant management beneficial.
  • Understanding of digital health trends, AI/ML applications in healthcare, and regulatory frameworks for software as medical devices (SaMD) is a plus.
  • Strong collaborative mindset with proven ability to work effectively as a team player and across multiple stakeholder groups, including clinicians, researchers, industry partners, and government agencies, with outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Excellent writing, thinking, analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a proactive, responsible, and detail-oriented approach to work. Experience in marketing and event management would be advantageous.
  • Candidates are expected to work independently as well as part of cross-functional teams.
