STCC's five joint platforms – Cancer Clinical Trials and Investigational Medicine Units, Cancer Databases and Tissue Banks, Translational Research Integration and Support, Business Intelligence and Development, and Impact and Population Health – provide an enabling research and innovation environment driven to foster translational research and meaningful outcomes for society.

The Role: 

 

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Officer or Senior Research Officer to join our organoid research team. The successful candidate will contribute to national-level projects by projects by establishing and maintaining patient-derived organoid (PDO) models and catalogue. This is a collaborative position involving coordination across research institutions in Singapore.

 

  • Perform patient-derived organoid (PDO) culture, co-ordinate with multiple organoid research groups for collection and propagation of organoids for national level projects.
  • Optimize protocols for tumour organoid culture and expansion.
  • Establish and implement standardized workflows for organoid collection, organoid culture, expansion, molecular characterization and clinical annotations for collaborative studies.
  • Conduct cellular and molecular assays such as RNA/DNA extraction, qPCR, Immunofluorescence, H&E staining, High-throughput compound screening, Cytotoxicity assays, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) etc.
  • Organize and co-ordinate meetings with organoid research groups and industry partners.
  • Compile and curate a national list of available tumour organoid models with associated annotations, protocols, and SOPs from collaborators.
  • Support the development of STCC national tumour organoid catalogue.
  • Capable of working in a team to survey scientific literatures, optimize standard protocols, execute and troubleshoot as seen appropriate.
  • Review scientific literature, troubleshoot protocols, and contribute to protocol optimization.
  • Maintain high standards of research integrity, including meticulous documentation and execution.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative, willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in and present research findings at group meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and SOPs.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety procedures and perform other duties as required.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or other strongly related scientific discipline.
  • Prior experience with cell culture, 3D cell culture, organoid models and molecular biology techniques is highly desirable.
  • Preferably with 2-5 years’ experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
  • Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing
  • Able to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver quality work under tight timelines.
  • Meticulous with an attention to details.
  • Team player, good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e.g. PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
